JASPAL BHATTI CUTURAL EVENING was organized by the Punjab Engineering College Old Students Association (PECOSA) in the auditorium of the PEC University of Technology Chandigarh on 29th September, 2017. On this occasion, Dr. Manoj K. Arora, Director PEC, was the Chief Guest and Mrs. Savita Bhatti, wife of Er. Jaspal Bhatti was the Guest of Honour.   Er. KK Vohra, President PECOSA in his welcome address expressed that the Cultural Show has been arranged in the memory of Padam Bhushan Late Jaspal Bhatti, who was one of their most distinguished alumnus. Mr. Vohra brought out that his popular TV shows Ulta Pulta, Flop Show and Full Tension were a great entertainment which at the same time also hit hard at various evils and malpractices prevailing in the society. He impressed upon the authorities of the PEC University of Technology to name the auditorium in the name of Late Jaspal Bhatti. He said that his glorious life inspires the youth for thinking positively, believing in creativity and working adventurously.

The students of the university  entertained the audience with cultural items mainly  based  on the theme of  his popular TV shows  which  were a great satire on  dowry, corruption, adultery, drug trafficking,  malpractices in  electoral system, female foeticide, bribery etc.  A short film on the works of Er. Jaspal Bhatti was also presented.

 Besides the cultural program, scholarships and prizes worth about two lakhs rupees were awarded to the meritorious students of the university.

Director PEC University of Technology, Manoj K. Arora,  paid rich tributes to Jaspal Bhatti and called him one of the most outstanding alumni of the PEC University of Technology. Mrs. Savita Bhatti, threw light on the theme of his first Punjabi movie MAHAUL THEEK HAI which was a great satire on the Punjab Police. The auditorium was fully packed with audience which seemed to be enjoying the cultural show and were all praise for the works of Jaspal Bhatti.
