Since its inception on 9th of November, 1921, PEC University of Technology celebrated its Foundation Day for the first time on the 9th of November, 2016.  

The function began with the auspicious lighting of lamp, Saraswati Vandana and PEC Anthem recital. Dr. Manoj K. Arora, Director, PEC University of Technology, shared illuminating words regarding the optimistic march of PEC towards the future. He also mentioned the MoU that the institute signed earlier in the day with TATA Power Delhi Distribution Ltd. and RECPDCL. He then, took the programme forward and welcomed Dr. O. S. Sehgal (former Principal, PEC), our Chief Guest for the occasion. He presented him with a memento & a shawl as a mark of appreciation. Dr. Sehgal, in his address, highlighted the institute's glorious history of innovation and achievements. He also shared his experiences of the time of his Principalship.

Following this, a video was screened that captured the JOURNEY OF PEC since its inception - not only the physical miles it has traversed from Lahore to Chandigarh but also the leaps and strides the institute has taken forward to reach the pinnacle of technical education.  

The function earmarked the launch of two important awards in the history of PEC.

Firstly, Research & Innovation Awards were distributed among 8 selected projects under Young Research Fellowship Programme. The selected students will also be given a stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month.

Secondly, Distinguished Alumnus Awards were given away for the first time to acknowledge and honour alumni who have attained a distinct position in career or contributed to society or achieved  sucessful entrepreneurship below 40 years of age. The Chief Guest of the event, Dr. O. S. Sehgal and the Director, PEC, Dr. Manoj K. Arora presented Dr. K.K. Aggarwal (Alumnus 1968-Electronics & Electrical Communication Engg.), Mr. Rajinder Kumar Kaura (Alumnus 1973-Electrical Engg.), Dr. Satish Kumar (Alumnus 1980-Aeronuatical Engg.) and Ms. Shikha Arora (Alumnus 2000-Electrical Engg.) with the  Award and honoured them with a memento, a shawl and a citation each. Prof. K.K. Gogna, Dean Alumni Affairs, read out the citations of all the awardees.

The event also included several cultural programmes filled with captivating performances by the students in the form of Medley song, a comical skit from the dramatics club and an enthralling performance from the bhangra group. The dance group -'Invincibles' added to the festive environment of the event with their wonderful act.

The momentous occasion was well attended and positively received and proved to be a joyous celebration of PEC's admirable journey.
