Recent Activities

Steps taken under EIC: 

  1. An idea generation competition called “Ignite – Business Idea Challenge”
  • Entries from 46 teams were received out of which 7 ideas/teams were selected for further process of incubation.
  • One mentor (a faculty member of PEC) has been allotted to each selected team to help the team in converting their ideas into real time start-ups.
  1. “Interactive Session with Mr. Sanjeev Aggarwal” who is an alumnus of PEC (1981 batch) and co-founder of Helion Ventures, a premier venture capitalist firm.
  • Mr. Aggarwal guided students about the essentials of finance and gave tips for impressing venture capitalists so as to arrange funds for the start-ups.
  1. A “Workshop on Methodology Overview – Phase 1: Usability” conducted by Mr. Sudhendhu Bali (PEC alumnus, 1984 batch) and Dr. Chetan Mittal (established entrepreneur).
  • A step-wise-step procedure was discussed through which an idea can be converted into a start-up comprising of customer identification and segmentation, marketing research and value proposition etc.
  • The teams selected under “Ignite” were given an exercise to identify their potential customers and product insights so that they can move ahead with their ideas.
  1. An “Interactive Session with Mr. Girish Kulkarni” who is a PEC alumnus (2008 batch) and postdoctoral research fellow at University of Michigan. He has founded a start-up called Arborsense Inc. in 2015.
  • He guided budding entrepreneurs that elevator pitch, team building and consumer base are very essential attributes for raising funds from venture capitalists.
  • He encouraged students to attend various entrepreneurship events across India to gain more knowledge for development of start-ups and efficient functioning of support systems (like e-cells, incubators etc.) in the institutions.
  1. A specific area at the campus has been allotted to EIC for fulfilling space requirements of budding entrepreneurs for their start-up related activities.
  2. A workshop was conducted for the Ignite 2015- Business Idea Challenge winners by Mr. Bali on 20th Jan, 2016 to help them in making B-Plans.

  3. Nominated 12 students for Entrepreneurship Summit at IIT Bombay from 29th – 31st Jan, 2016 to get good exposure through participation in various competitions, brainstorming sessions etc., and interaction with successful entrepreneurs and other participating teams.

  4. Nominated 5 students to attend the annual event TiECON organized by TiE on 19th Feb, 2016 to learn different types of skills from nation-wide renowned entrepreneurs and to interact with venture capitalists, angel investors etc.

  5. IGNITE 2016 - Idea Generation Competition was initiated in the month of January to encourage more students to participate in entrepreneurial activities.  This is an opportunity for young minds to harness their potential for entrepreneurship.

  6. A panel discussion was organized on the topic - "An Entrepreneurs Journey" on 17th March, 2016 in the PEC-Auditorium. The panelists invited were Sandeep Vij (CEO, Spectra Computech), Karan Checker (CEO, SNA Power Engg.), Nitish Mahajan  (M D, Conjoinix Technologies) and JB Singh (CEO, Access Infotech.
    •    The panelists deliberated on the various dilemmas and general doubts that students face while trying to pursue the journey of becoming a self-made entrepreneur. They tried to motivate students by citing various struggles and challenges they faced on their way and how they coped with them.

    •    The speakers also enlightened the students about the importance of proper brainstorming and research, before venturing into the arena of Entrepreneurship. Students were also made aware of the role of Incubators and Skill Development Programmes which can guide and give a proper direction to proceed to the budding entrepreneurs. The discussion was followed by a Question Answer round.

  7. The four teams presented their pitches on 10.04.2016 to Mr. Sanjiv Bhavnani (Mech., 1983) and Mr. Rakesh Sharma (Mech., 1978) for incubation at PEC on 10.04.2016 at Computer Center  through Skype.

    •    All four ideas were recommended for the Incubation at PEC and some suggestions were also given to all the teams.


Further, EIC has planned to organize more of such sessions, workshops and competitions to provide opportunities to students to showcase and strengthen their entrepreneurial skills. Also, a platform will be provided to budding entrepreneurs at the campus by the means of mentorship and support activities.

PEC has dreamt of creating more and more entrepreneurs. For converting this dream into reality, EIC cell needs the support from the alumni without which this journey cannot be completed. Hence, we invite our alumni to come forward and help in any possible way by either acting as mentors and/or sharing their time, expertise, knowledge, experience and resources for developing entrepreneurs at PEC.
