Convocation is more than just a formal ceremony for the conferral of degrees, it is a time of honored tradition that celebrates our achievement in the setting of the Institute community to which you now have a permanent place.

At convocation students celebrate collectively and individually with all the actions and circumstances that links ancient symbols to the 21st century and to this very special day in their life. They will receive their parchment as evidence of the days and long nights of study and toil and will wear an outfit exclusive to this occasion. The convocation day is a very touching day as scores of graduates descend to the Institute to collect the parchment that sets them free to reach greater heights.

Celebrating its continued excellence in the field of technical education, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh hosted its 46th Annual Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, 22nd October, 2016 at Inderdhanush Auditorium, Sector 5, Panchkula.

PEC University of Technology witnessed a landmark celebration at its campus as the university celebrated its 45th Annual Convocation on Saturday, 17th October 2015. Dr. Anil Sahsrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council of technical Education (AICTE) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. 412 students in BE programme, 247 students in Master’s programme and 8 students in Ph.D. programme were conferred degrees. A number of meritorious students, including 10 gold medalists and 11 silver medalists were also honored during the ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Dr. Anil Sahsrabudhe, Director, AICTE applauded PEC’s research and development inititatives. Speaking of falling education standards, he rued the fact that the level of engineering education in the country was below par. Citing a review committee report of AICTE, he vouched for more autonomy to colleges to set their own academic syllabus and curriculum, while emphasizing that colleges should shoulder this independence responsibly. Addressing the graduates directly, the Chief Guest said that their focus should be on using their knowledge to drive innovations that can revolutionise the world. He mentioned how engineers today are problem solvers who may need to solve problems that are unheard of today.

Dr. Som Mittal, Chairman, Board of Governors, PEC and former Chairman, NASSCOM also addressed the gathering on this occasion. Emphasizing the importance of work ethics, he said that the value system of PEC students is the differentiating factor that helps them excel in the professional world. He earmarked trust, humility and a sense of belonging for their work as traits that would help the young graduates excel in life. He appreciated the support extended by the UT Administration time and again, in all endeavors of PEC University of Technology.

The Director welcomed the students and dignitaries, recounting Dr Sahsrabudhe’s life and his contribution in the field of education. This was followed by PEC’s annual report. Applauding the efforts of the institute’s Training and Placement Office, he informed the gathering that PEC students had bagged an unprecedented 415 placement offers in over 93 companies, including a number of start-ups that visited the campus in 2014-15.

He mentioned that in the year 2014-15 about 150 research papers were presented by the faculty in various national / international conferences and published in various journals. Outlining the rapid strides in research and development, stated that PEC was currently involved with 11 sponsored research projects.

Enlisting the extra-curricular achievements, he informed the gathering that students from various cultural clubs and technical societies had won numerous awards at several cultural and technical festivals across the country. He proudly mentioned that PEC had successfully achieved all the ten parameters of TEQIP II programme and was also interacting with sister institutions of higher learning under CRIKC.

He also informed the gathering of the infrastructural development, including the construction of the new academic block that will be completed by early 2016. The library had been made RFID-ready and a portion would be expanded as digital library soon. He mentioned that the foundation stone for expansion of Shivalik Hostel had been laid the previous day.

He also recounted the support of PEC’s alumni network, thanking them for their support in preparing the college anthem 'We are PEC’. He also informed that a new PEC alumni website had been launched recently.

Finally, congratulating the students, the Director wished them luck to face all upcoming challenges in their life. He exhorted them to work hard and uphold the great values imbibed by the institution. He extended his wishes by reciting a short poem wherein he urged the students to stay motivated and never lose heart.

The joyous evening came to an end with the National Anthem, as the new graduates marched towards their professional careers with new-found hope and enthusiasm.

PEC University of Technology had its 44th Annual Convocation on Saturday, 27nd September 2014. Padma Bhushan, Dr. F.C. Kohli, TCS founder and father of the Indian software industry graced the occasion as Chief Guest. 374 students in BE programme, 250 students in Master’s programme and 9 students in Ph.D programme were conferred the degrees, 11 gold medalist and 11 silver medalists besides some other medalists were also honored during the ceremony.

Padma Bhushan Dr. F. C. Kohli, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the importance of learning, sharing his story as to how constant learning, even at workplace, would be needed for them to realize their full potentials. He placed special emphasis on digital learning and advised colleges to ramp up the digital infrastructure so as to foster interaction with various IITs and other elite institutes.Addressing the graduates directly, he told them that the future would require courage, discipline, sacrifice and hard work. He advised them they would need vision to shape their destinies, and the destiny of their nation.

Shri Sarvjit Singh, IAS, Co-Chairperson, Board of Management, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh congratulated the graduates for being fortunate in being conferred with degrees as they had received their education in Chandigarh, the city beautiful, blessed by a big open hand. He said that as they passed out of PEC University of Technology with Concepts of Thermodynamics, Bending Moment or Schrodinger’s wave equation as applied to electrons or holes, they would carry in their breaths, the heritage, the ethos and the wisdom of one of the oldest civilizations of the earth. He added that it was the beginning of the voyage of their dreams, their thoughts taking shape.

The Director congratulated all the young engineers and presented the annual report. He highlighted the provision of new of rules and regulations passed by the Senate to streamline the academic activities and that a new flexible and industry oriented academic curriculum is in place from the academic session 2014-15. The Director proudly mentioned that the institute successfully achieved all the ten parameters of TEQIP II programme and joined the group of elite institutions.The Director also applauded the Training & Placement office for their continuous efforts in improving the placement and internships both in numbers and quality. He mentioned that in the year 2013-14 about 300 research papers were presented by the faculty in various national / international conferences and published in various journals.

He also thanked the alumni for their services rendered to the society and also for instituting awards and scholarship for the needy and meritorious students of the college.

The overall environment was full of joy, rejoice, celebrations and mixed emotions amongst the pass-outs who had come to receive the degrees. It gave the graduating degree recipients the impetus to take life head on.

The 43rd Annual Convocation of the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh was held on 12th October, 2013. Padma Vibhushan Professor Man Mohan Sharma, a renowned Chemical Engineer and Scientist was the Chief Guest. Prof. Sharma was elected as a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) in 1976 and was President of the Academy in 1989-1990. He was elected as the Fellow of Royal Society (FRS), U.K., in 1990 and was the first engineer from India to become a Fellow. Prof. Sharma was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1987 and Padma Vibhushan in 2001. The Co-Chairperson Board of Management, Shri V.K. Singh, Secretary Technical Education, Chandigarh, declared the convocation opened.

Prof. Manoj Arora, Director, PEC University of Technology, welcomed Padma Vibhushan Professor Man Mohan Sharma and other dignitaries as well as distinguished guests, graduates of the year, members of the faculty and staff on this occasion. He then narrated the brief annual report of the PEC highlighting the excellent performance of faculty and students in academics, sports and other extra-curricular activities.He paid his gratitude to the Chandigarh Administration for adopting a positive approach towards all the problems of the institute. He also thanked the alumni for their services rendered to the society and also for instituting awards and scholarship for the needy and meritorious students of the college. He commended them for returning the debt of obligation they owe to the Institute that made them what they are today.

Addressing the convocation, Chief Guest Professor Man Mohan Sharma, congratulated the young men and women who are at an important cusp in their lives, where for most of the students, it is the end of the innings of formal education and start of a new innings where they step into the wide world out there to blaze trails of their own.

Shri V.K . Singh, congratulated the graduates on being conferred with the rightly deserved degrees and awards for their academic accomplishments. He said that there is an immense potential for India to transform herself into a global R&D platform.

The 42nd Annual Convocation of the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh was held on 13th October, 2012. Professor Pradipta Banerji, Director, IIT Roorkee, graced this occasion as the Chief Guest and Shri VK Singh, Secretary Technical Education was the Co-Chairperson for the ceremony. This academic year a total of 381 students completed their B.E. programme in various disciplines and 12 graduated with Honors 207 M.E. students also completed their programme of studies and 3 students completed their Ph.D programme. The overall environment was full of joy, rejoice, celebrations and mixed emotions amongst the pass-outs who had come to receive the degrees.

Addressing the convocation, Chief Guest Professor Pradipta Banerji, Director, IIT Roorkee, congratulated the young men and women who are at an important cusp in their lives, where for most of the students, it is the end of the innings of formal education and start of a new innings where they step into the wide world out there to blaze trails of their own. He also congratulated the parents, who have undergone hardship and have sacrificed some of their own dreams to ensure that their children get an excellent education. He made a point to the students to learn, innovate and create value for their own self and the country.
